An easier truck ride to Manhattan
The moving truck’s thousand miles from Alabama are much easier now: Aunty swerves less often and more gently, with more warning, Annie wants less and waits longer for it, Fluffy and a sleepy Aunty give Charlie more time to bark, and however bumpy it gets the truck always makes it to Manhattan, so a bump only costs a star and a tantrum only costs points.
Where: Mission Mode, Mission 35 Show me: An easier truck ride to Manhattan ›
-
More time in Chill Mode
Chill Mode’s More time switch has a new job: every clock or meter that can lose a mission gives Charlie half as long again, so buyers are slower to notice and to walk out, Fluffy is slower to get drunk or lose his patience, the Super’s meter fills slower, Moose growls longer, Fluffy takes longer to bring up the party in Miami, and the photo at Federico’s comes later.
Where: Game Settings, Chill Mode, More time Show me: More time in Chill Mode ›
-
Everyone, drawn head to toe
The people Charlie meets were floating emoji faces, and now they’re drawn from head to toe: nurses in their scrubs, waiters in their tuxedos, guards, chefs, shoppers and patients sitting up in bed, each with their own hair, skin tone and outfit, holding up whatever they’re carrying.
Where: Everywhere: the missions, Free Roam Mode and Auto Play Mode Show me: Everyone, drawn head to toe ›
-
Real furniture and hospital gear
The things around Charlie are drawn properly now instead of as icons: the hospital beds, the wheelchairs, the crash cart and the oxygen tanks, Fluffy’s bed and the apartment’s furniture, Paola’s tables, Park Avenue’s trees, planters and real fire hydrants, and Lamb Lamb and the bones on the floor.
Where: Everywhere: the apartment, the ER and the hospital, Park Avenue, Central Park and Paola’s
-
The whole cast, redrawn
Dad, Lubna, Federico, Michael, CJ, Victor, the doormen and everyone else who was a big-headed cartoon is drawn like Fluffy and Grandpa now, with real proportions, soft shading and their own faces and outfits (Dad with his thick brown hair), and Federico’s four dogs and Peaches too.
Where: Everywhere: the title screen’s cast, Meet the Cast, the missions, Free Roam Mode and Auto Play Mode
-
Every room, fully furnished
Every bench, fence, desk, shelf, sofa, sign, statue and fountain in every place Charlie goes is drawn properly now, from Central Park’s dog run and Aunty’s penthouse to the firehouse, the airport, the UN, Federico’s gardens and Victor’s warehouse, and the cars, the toys and the plush chicken too.
Where: Everywhere: every place in Mission Mode, Free Roam Mode and Auto Play Mode Show me: Every room, fully furnished ›
-
Every prop, drawn by hand
The little things in Charlie’s world were emoji, and now each one is drawn by hand: Central Park’s reeds, the roadside pines, Federico’s roses, champagne and violins, the phones, coffees and takeout, the shoes, socks and gloves Charlie carries, the shopping bags, suitcases and boxes, and every bite of food.
Where: Everywhere: the missions, Free Roam Mode and Auto Play Mode Show me: Every prop, drawn by hand ›
-
Bubbles and signs, redrawn
The speech bubbles, Charlie’s thoughts and the floating words are just words now, the few marks left in the world are inked like a comic’s (the question mark over a curious buyer, the speech balloon, the sleepy Zs, the music, the hearts, the anger vein), and Fluffy’s, Grandpa’s and Nichole’s moods are one slim meter over their heads.
Where: Everywhere: the missions, Free Roam Mode and Auto Play Mode Show me: Bubbles and signs, redrawn ›
-
Grass, water and floors, redrawn
The ground under Charlie is painted now: Central Park’s grass, its paths and its pond with reeds and lily pads, the beach and the dunes, Park Avenue’s sidewalks and every floor indoors, from the wood and the tiles to the carpets, the marble and the rugs.
Where: Everywhere: Central Park first, then every place in the game
-
Ducks, dogs and pigeons, drawn
The animals were emoji, and now they’re drawn: Central Park’s ducks paddling on the pond, the dog run’s fancy dogs (a poodle, a Dalmatian, a corgi, a doodle, a dachshund, a Frenchie) trotting on their leashes, the pigeons, the gulls, the deer and their fawns, Gary the raccoon, the roaches, the flies and the pet store’s fish, hamsters and parakeet.
Where: Everywhere: Central Park and its dog run, the beach, the listing, the pet store and the Townhouse
-
Hamptons Discount Realty and Craig
Aunty’s brokerage is Hamptons Discount Realty now, and her manager is Craig, who thinks very little of her: the big listings go to Derek, Aunty gets the garbage, and when a client calls for her he hands it to another agent and swears nobody called.
Where: Auto Play Mode: the listings meeting, Wednesday afternoons; Free Roam Mode: the office at the east end of Park Avenue, south side (9 AM to 6 PM)
-
A cleaner, hand-drawn interface
The menus, the buttons and the top bar are in clean words now instead of emoji: the mission counters say what they count (Offers 0/3, Walkouts 0/3), and a few hand-drawn icons stay where they help: Charlie’s health, the Puppy Eyes, Bark and Zoomies buttons, Fluffy’s mood and a mission’s stars.
Where: The game’s top bar and buttons, the main menu and every menu Show me: A cleaner, hand-drawn interface ›
-
Rats in Aunty’s Mini
The check engine light finally makes sense: rats live in the engine bay of Aunty’s Mini, chewing the wiring (its insulation is soy-based, so it smells like dinner, and the engine bay is warm and dry), Fluffy has worked it out on the drive to Southampton, and Aunty still says the light is decorative.
Where: Mission Mode, Missions 9 and 10; the garage in Free Roam Mode; Auto Play Mode’s trip to Southampton Show me: Rats in Aunty’s Mini ›
-
Michael, Cuban, and the saucer
Michael is Cuban-American now, Miami born and raised (loud, warm and quick, a cafecito on the hot plate for everyone, Spanish mid-sentence, still hiding from the divorce papers behind the water heater), and one day a flying saucer takes him, cot, sunglasses, fondue set and all, while he talks the whole way up, Howard arrives a second too late, and Barb and Lou, for once, tell a truth that nobody believes.
Where: Mission 38, He Isn’t Home (the finale); Auto Play Mode: Tuesday in Miami; Free Roam Mode: Go to… Miami, at night
-
The garage, under Aunty’s building
The garage is under Aunty’s own building now, not next door: its ramp is in her building’s front on Park Avenue, her elevator goes down to it, and by her Mini you can hear the rats in the engine bay gnawing away until Charlie gets too close.
Where: Free Roam Mode: Park Avenue, the garage and Go to; Auto Play Mode’s trip to Southampton; Mission Mode, Missions 9 and 10 Show me: The garage, under Aunty’s building ›
-
Annie’s intervention for Aunty
Annie is staging an intervention for her mother at the penthouse (a seating chart, index cards, a printed agenda, a safe word), while Joseph, who labeled the chairs, wants to go home, Sam leaves early for a thing, Fluffy, there for the catering, tells one obvious lie after another, Aunty agrees with every one, and Charlie keeps finding the bottles she hid.
Where: Mission 40, Holding Space; Auto Play Mode: Wednesday evening at Aunty’s penthouse, before the sleepover Show me: Annie’s intervention for Aunty ›
-
Samantha, a skater, and her ghosts
Fluffy meets Samantha, a grungy, tomboyish skater who lives for her board, on the plaza outside Hudson Yards Bathhouse (eucalyptus towels, a smoothie bar, a free sauna and an outdoor pool deck where everyone mingles and nobody swims), and then she moves to an old house in West Hollywood with three ghosts and very bad juju, keeps calling Fluffy about them, and Fluffy and Charlie fly out to sniff them out, settle each one gently and watch her land her trick.
Where: Missions 41 and 42, Guest Pass and Bad Juju; Auto Play Mode: Monday at Hudson Yards Bathhouse, her calls, Sunday night in West Hollywood; Free Roam Mode: Go to… Hudson Yards Bathhouse, its pool deck or West Hollywood Show me: Samantha, a skater, and her ghosts ›
-
Each flight’s own gate
At the airport in New York, the boarding sign, Gate 22’s desk, the departures board and the door to the plane now name the flight Fluffy and Charlie are really taking (Chicago, Alabama, Miami, Ohio or Los Angeles), and on the other trips nobody at the gate talks about Chicago.
Where: Auto Play Mode: the airport, on the way to Chicago (Thursday), Alabama (Friday), Miami (Tuesday morning), Ohio (Tuesday night) and Los Angeles (Sunday night) Show me: Each flight’s own gate ›
-
Anjali, across Aunty’s landing
Across the private landing at the top of Aunty’s building lives Anjali, a painter, who keeps inviting Aunty over for dinner and asking her to review her artwork (six portraits of Aunty, from memory); Aunty brings comps, Fluffy eats everything, and Charlie keeps the evening strictly business.
Where: Mission Mode, Mission 43; Auto Play Mode’s Wednesday evening; Free Roam Mode’s Go to, Home and the building Show me: Anjali, across Aunty’s landing ›
-
First class, Charlie in his seat
On the plane Charlie is in Seat 2A at last, sitting up by the window with his blanket and his water bowl, Fluffy beside him in 2B and every other seat taken, a different cabin every flight, all of it redrawn: walnut-and-ivory suites, windows onto the sky with the clouds going by, the overhead bins, the galley and its trolley, a carpet with a runner down the aisle, and the lights going down at night.
Where: Auto Play Mode: the flights to Chicago (Thursday), Alabama (Friday), Miami (Tuesday morning), Ohio (Tuesday night) and Los Angeles (Sunday night), and home; Mission Mode, Mission 32 Show me: First class, Charlie in his seat ›
-
Digging, made clear
At the beach house every buried toy’s mound now has a DIG tag, and until Charlie has dug one up the mound he’s near says HOLD STILL TO DIG (with how to stop on your device) while a ring fills and the sand flies.
Where: Mission Mode, Mission 11 (Southampton Beach House); Survival’s Beach Panic Show me: Digging, made clear ›
-
A Bathhouse full of posers
Hudson Yards Bathhouse is packed now, and everyone is busy being photographed: around the pool, a crowd in swim briefs, board shorts and swimsuits posing, filming each other and retaking every shot (a ring light, a tripod, a selfie stick, a pose on the diving board, and still nobody in the water), and on the gym floor people filming each other at the machines and posing in the mirror instead of exercising.
Where: Hudson Yards Bathhouse: Mission 41, Guest Pass; Auto Play Mode on Monday afternoon; Free Roam Mode: Go to… Hudson Yards Bathhouse or its pool deck Show me: A Bathhouse full of posers ›
-
Aunty’s loop, and her three men
At her penthouse Aunty keeps pulling Fluffy aside with the same questions (should she quit her brokerage for another one? should she keep seeing Lenny, Dale or Vince, who are all broke, divorced, unemployed and moody?), then she quits on the spot, takes all three back and goes hunting for a fourth at the bar on Third, with Fluffy as her wingman, and reminds him she took him to the US Open.
Where: Auto Play Mode: Tuesday at the bar on Third, after happy hour; Wednesday’s listings meeting; Thursday morning at Aunty’s. Free Roam Mode: her penthouse with Fluffy, 5 to 6 PM, and the bar on Third from 9 PM. Mission Mode: Mission 7 Show me: Aunty’s loop, and her three men ›
-
Narrator in step with the picture
In Auto Play Mode every line is now heard with what it’s about on the screen: nothing under the fast-forward card at the top speed, nothing before a new place has faded in, and on Tuesday in Miami every line about the saucer comes as it happens: the beam, Michael going up, the empty sky.
Where: Auto Play Mode, at every speed; the saucer on Tuesday in Miami Show me: Narrator in step with the picture ›
-
Adaptive difficulty
Lose a mission and your next try is made easier (more health, slower hoomans, quicker abilities, twice the time and softer hits), lose it twice and Charlie’s got it, so that try can’t be lost, and a win puts the mission back to normal.
Where: Mission Mode, after a loss; the switch is in Game Settings, Adaptive difficulty Show me: Adaptive difficulty ›
-
Samantha skates, and she’s famous
Samantha really skates now (pushing, carving, an ollie, a kickflip with her board turning over under her, a frontside fifty-fifty along the plaza’s ledge with sparks, a boardslide down the handrail, a drop-in, a carve and an air out of her bowl, a bail now and then), and she’s famous: two filmers riding alongside her, kids with their boards wanting her autograph, a high five, and Fluffy telling everyone they go way back.
Where: Missions 41 and 42, Guest Pass and Bad Juju; Auto Play Mode: Monday at Hudson Yards Bathhouse, Sunday night at her bowl; Free Roam Mode: Go to… West Hollywood by day, and the plaza’s kids in the afternoon Show me: Samantha skates, and she’s famous ›
-
Aunty’s listings, best offer
Aunty’s own listings are the dumps Craig gives her, condemned and under a million, priced “make your best offer” (the Townhouse asks $890,000 or best offer; the Southampton dump and the Florida gentleman’s walk-up take any offer), while the big ones go to Derek and the millions stay in her dreams.
Where: Mission Mode: Missions 12, 26 and 33; Auto Play Mode and Free Roam Mode: the Townhouse and Aunty’s listing in Southampton Show me: Aunty’s listings, best offer ›
-
Fluffy’s exam, and Aunty’s lessons
Fluffy fails the state salesperson exam again (the proctor keeps a tally on the board), so Aunty trains him herself, with an eye to the listings: on the courthouse steps he hands out her cards (“Selling the apartment?”), and at a funeral home Craig explains his theory, Charlie walks up the aisle in the middle of the eulogy, and Aunty and Craig ask the room if anyone’s selling.
Where: Auto Play Mode: Monday at 12:30 PM, the exam and the courthouse steps; Sunday at 9 AM, the funeral home with Craig. Free Roam Mode: Go to… the testing center, the courthouse steps or the funeral home Show me: Fluffy’s exam, and Aunty’s lessons ›
-
Softer walls, fewer dark lines
The walls indoors were dark bands boxed in black lines, every end and every doorway its own box; now they’re plaster in each place’s own colours, one wall from end to end with a soft shadow at its foot, the floor runs on through the doorways, and the furniture’s outlines are thin.
Where: Everywhere indoors: Fluffy’s apartment first, then Aunty’s penthouse, the lobby and every place Charlie goes
-
Aunty’s commission split
Aunty now wastes Fluffy’s time over her commission’s split too: the buyer’s side, Craig’s share (paid late, every time), the math again and again, and whether to give her assistant (Fluffy) any of it.
Where: Free Roam Mode: her penthouse with Fluffy, 5 to 6 PM, and the bar on Third from 9 PM. Auto Play Mode: Thursday morning at Aunty’s. Mission Mode: Mission 7 Show me: Aunty’s commission split ›

PA announcements, richer places
The airport calls your flight by name (boarding, the final call, the odd gate change, a word about security), the captain welcomes you aboard and brings you down into the right city, the hospitals, the nursing homes, Hudson Yards Bathhouse, the courthouse, the testing center and the pet store speak over a real tannoy, and every place sounds fuller, by day and by night: sirens and buses on Park Avenue, a saxophone in the park, the radiator at home, the surf in East Hampton, the train in Chicago, the lake in Ohio.
Where: Everywhere, with Sound and Voices on: Auto Play Mode’s trips (the airport and the plane), Free Roam Mode’s Go to… and the missions. The announcements are heard once they’re recorded; Sound captions shows their words Show me: PA announcements, richer places ›

Three levels of dog bone
Dog Bones come in three levels now, each drawn and counted on its own: the regular Dog Bone, the rarer Golden Dog Bone (the twenty hidden in Free Roam Mode, and every seventh Dog Bone in a mission, worth more) and the rarest Diamond Dog Bone, five hidden in the open city’s hardest-to-reach corners, with a sparkle and a sound of its own.

-
An easier truck ride to Manhattan
The moving truck’s thousand miles from Alabama are much easier now: Aunty swerves less often and more gently, with more warning, Annie wants less and waits longer for it, Fluffy and a sleepy Aunty give Charlie more time to bark, and however bumpy it gets the truck always makes it to Manhattan, so a bump only costs a star and a tantrum only costs points.
Where: Mission Mode, Mission 35
-
More time in Chill Mode
Chill Mode’s More time switch has a new job: every clock or meter that can lose a mission gives Charlie half as long again, so buyers are slower to notice and to walk out, Fluffy is slower to get drunk or lose his patience, the Super’s meter fills slower, Moose growls longer, Fluffy takes longer to bring up the party in Miami, and the photo at Federico’s comes later.
Where: Game Settings, Chill Mode, More time
-
Everyone, drawn head to toe
The people Charlie meets were floating emoji faces, and now they’re drawn from head to toe: nurses in their scrubs, waiters in their tuxedos, guards, chefs, shoppers and patients sitting up in bed, each with their own hair, skin tone and outfit, holding up whatever they’re carrying.
Where: Everywhere: the missions, Free Roam Mode and Auto Play Mode
-
Real furniture and hospital gear
Where: Everywhere: every place in Mission Mode, Free Roam Mode and Auto Play Mode
-
Every prop, drawn by hand
The little things in Charlie’s world were emoji, and now each one is drawn by hand: Central Park’s reeds, the roadside pines, Federico’s roses, champagne and violins, the phones, coffees and takeout, the shoes, socks and gloves Charlie carries, the shopping bags, suitcases and boxes, and every bite of food.
Where: Everywhere: the missions, Free Roam Mode and Auto Play Mode
-
Bubbles and signs, redrawn
The speech bubbles, Charlie’s thoughts and the floating words are just words now, the few marks left in the world are inked like a comic’s (the question mark over a curious buyer, the speech balloon, the sleepy Zs, the music, the hearts, the anger vein), and Fluffy’s, Grandpa’s and Nichole’s moods are one slim meter over their heads.
Where: Everywhere: the missions, Free Roam Mode and Auto Play Mode
-
Grass, water and floors, redrawn
The ground under Charlie is painted now: Central Park’s grass, its paths and its pond with reeds and lily pads, the beach and the dunes, Park Avenue’s sidewalks and every floor indoors, from the wood and the tiles to the carpets, the marble and the rugs.
Where: Everywhere: Central Park first, then every place in the game

Where: The game’s top bar and buttons, the main menu and every menu
-
Rats in Aunty’s Mini
The check engine light finally makes sense: rats live in the engine bay of Aunty’s Mini, chewing the wiring (its insulation is soy-based, so it smells like dinner, and the engine bay is warm and dry), Fluffy has worked it out on the drive to Southampton, and Aunty still says the light is decorative.
Where: Mission Mode, Missions 9 and 10; the garage in Free Roam Mode; Auto Play Mode’s trip to Southampton
-
Michael, Cuban, and the saucer
Where: Free Roam Mode: Park Avenue, the garage and Go to; Auto Play Mode’s trip to Southampton; Mission Mode, Missions 9 and 10
-
Annie’s intervention for Aunty
Annie is staging an intervention for her mother at the penthouse (a seating chart, index cards, a printed agenda, a safe word), while Joseph, who labeled the chairs, wants to go home, Sam leaves early for a thing, Fluffy, there for the catering, tells one obvious lie after another, Aunty agrees with every one, and Charlie keeps finding the bottles she hid.
Where: Mission 40, Holding Space; Auto Play Mode: Wednesday evening at Aunty’s penthouse, before the sleepover
-
Samantha, a skater, and her ghosts
Fluffy meets Samantha, a grungy, tomboyish skater who lives for her board, on the plaza outside Hudson Yards Bathhouse (eucalyptus towels, a smoothie bar, a free sauna and an outdoor pool deck where everyone mingles and nobody swims), and then she moves to an old house in West Hollywood with three ghosts and very bad juju, keeps calling Fluffy about them, and Fluffy and Charlie fly out to sniff them out, settle each one gently and watch her land her trick.
Where: Missions 41 and 42, Guest Pass and Bad Juju; Auto Play Mode: Monday at Hudson Yards Bathhouse, her calls, Sunday night in West Hollywood; Free Roam Mode: Go to… Hudson Yards Bathhouse, its pool deck or West Hollywood
-
Each flight’s own gate
At the airport in New York, the boarding sign, Gate 22’s desk, the departures board and the door to the plane now name the flight Fluffy and Charlie are really taking (Chicago, Alabama, Miami, Ohio or Los Angeles), and on the other trips nobody at the gate talks about Chicago.
Where: Auto Play Mode: the airport, on the way to Chicago (Thursday), Alabama (Friday), Miami (Tuesday morning), Ohio (Tuesday night) and Los Angeles (Sunday night)
-
Anjali, across Aunty’s landing
Across the private landing at the top of Aunty’s building lives Anjali, a painter, who keeps inviting Aunty over for dinner and asking her to review her artwork (six portraits of Aunty, from memory); Aunty brings comps, Fluffy eats everything, and Charlie keeps the evening strictly business.
Where: Mission Mode, Mission 43; Auto Play Mode’s Wednesday evening; Free Roam Mode’s Go to, Home and the building
-
First class, Charlie in his seat
On the plane Charlie is in Seat 2A at last, sitting up by the window with his blanket and his water bowl, Fluffy beside him in 2B and every other seat taken, a different cabin every flight, all of it redrawn: walnut-and-ivory suites, windows onto the sky with the clouds going by, the overhead bins, the galley and its trolley, a carpet with a runner down the aisle, and the lights going down at night.
Where: Auto Play Mode: the flights to Chicago (Thursday), Alabama (Friday), Miami (Tuesday morning), Ohio (Tuesday night) and Los Angeles (Sunday night), and home; Mission Mode, Mission 32
-
Digging, made clear
At the beach house every buried toy’s mound now has a DIG tag, and until Charlie has dug one up the mound he’s near says HOLD STILL TO DIG (with how to stop on your device) while a ring fills and the sand flies.
Where: Mission Mode, Mission 11 (Southampton Beach House); Survival’s Beach Panic
-
A Bathhouse full of posers
Hudson Yards Bathhouse is packed now, and everyone is busy being photographed: around the pool, a crowd in swim briefs, board shorts and swimsuits posing, filming each other and retaking every shot (a ring light, a tripod, a selfie stick, a pose on the diving board, and still nobody in the water), and on the gym floor people filming each other at the machines and posing in the mirror instead of exercising.
Where: Hudson Yards Bathhouse: Mission 41, Guest Pass; Auto Play Mode on Monday afternoon; Free Roam Mode: Go to… Hudson Yards Bathhouse or its pool deck
-
Aunty’s loop, and her three men
At her penthouse Aunty keeps pulling Fluffy aside with the same questions (should she quit her brokerage for another one? should she keep seeing Lenny, Dale or Vince, who are all broke, divorced, unemployed and moody?), then she quits on the spot, takes all three back and goes hunting for a fourth at the bar on Third, with Fluffy as her wingman, and reminds him she took him to the US Open.
Mission Mode: Mission 7
-
Narrator in step with the picture
In Auto Play Mode every line is now heard with what it’s about on the screen: nothing under the fast-forward card at the top speed, nothing before a new place has faded in, and on Tuesday in Miami every line about the saucer comes as it happens: the beam, Michael going up, the empty sky.
Where: Auto Play Mode, at every speed; the saucer on Tuesday in Miami
-
Adaptive difficulty
Lose a mission and your next try is made easier (more health, slower hoomans, quicker abilities, twice the time and softer hits), lose it twice and Charlie’s got it, so that try can’t be lost, and a win puts the mission back to normal.
Where: Mission Mode, after a loss; the switch is in Game Settings, Adaptive difficulty
-
Samantha skates, and she’s famous
Samantha really skates now (pushing, carving, an ollie, a kickflip with her board turning over under her, a frontside fifty-fifty along the plaza’s ledge with sparks, a boardslide down the handrail, a drop-in, a carve and an air out of her bowl, a bail now and then), and she’s famous: two filmers riding alongside her, kids with their boards wanting her autograph, a high five, and Fluffy telling everyone they go way back.
Where: Missions 41 and 42, Guest Pass and Bad Juju; Auto Play Mode: Monday at Hudson Yards Bathhouse, Sunday night at her bowl; Free Roam Mode: Go to… West Hollywood by day, and the plaza’s kids in the afternoon
-
Aunty’s listings, best offer
Aunty’s own listings are the dumps Craig gives her, condemned and under a million, priced “make your best offer” (the Townhouse asks $890,000 or best offer; the Southampton dump and the Florida gentleman’s walk-up take any offer), while the big ones go to Derek and the millions stay in her dreams.
Where: Mission Mode: Missions 12, 26 and 33; Auto Play Mode and Free Roam Mode: the Townhouse and Aunty’s listing in Southampton
-
Fluffy’s exam, and Aunty’s lessons
Fluffy fails the state salesperson exam again (the proctor keeps a tally on the board), so Aunty trains him herself, with an eye to the listings: on the courthouse steps he hands out her cards (“Selling the apartment?”), and at a funeral home Craig explains his theory, Charlie walks up the aisle in the middle of the eulogy, and Aunty and Craig ask the room if anyone’s selling.
Where: Auto Play Mode: Monday at 12:30 PM, the exam and the courthouse steps; Sunday at 9 AM, the funeral home with Craig. Free Roam Mode: Go to… the testing center, the courthouse steps or the funeral home
-
Softer walls, fewer dark lines
Mission Mode: Mission 7
-
Michael and the aliens
Michael is obsessed with aliens now, with posters on the garage wall, the light left on for them and the sky every night, always asking why they haven’t contacted us.
Where: Free Roam Mode: Go to… Miami, the garage. Auto Play Mode: Tuesday in Miami. Mission Mode: Mission 38, He Isn’t Home
-
Craig pays Aunty late
Whenever Aunty complains that her commission’s late, it’s Craig she means now, her manager at Hamptons Discount Realty, who pays her late every time.
Where: Everywhere Aunty talks money: Free Roam Mode, Auto Play Mode and her missions
-
Only one Lamb Lamb
There’s only ever one Lamb Lamb and one Chicken now, Charlie’s big plushes in Fluffy’s room, and the toys he fetches are bones, the squeaky duck, the bully stick and the teddy.
Where: Mission Mode: the apartment’s missions, Mission 13 and the pet store, Mission 30
-
PA announcements, richer places
The announcements are heard once they’re recorded; Sound captions shows their words
-
Odd jobs around the city
In Free Roam Mode people all over the city have a job for Charlie, from Paola’s deliveries and the doormen’s lost boxes to pigeons on the hot dog cart and Samantha’s board parts: walk up to a gold tag, take the job, and earn treats, Golden Dog Bones, bandanas and Scrapbook moments.
Where: Free Roam Mode: anyone with a gold tag over their head; the Jobs button by the pause button for the job log (J on a keyboard, RT or R2 on a controller, the pause card on the Apple TV)
Version 3.0
-
Grandpa, Fluffy’s roommate
Everyone calls him Grandpa, but he’s no relation to Fluffy, just the old man Fluffy shares the rent-controlled apartment with, so to Grandpa, the nurses and George, Fluffy is the roommate now.
Where: Auto Play Mode and Free Roam Mode: Grandpa’s calls, the hospital, the lobby
-
An easier drive to Southampton
The road trip to Southampton is much easier now: Aunty swerves less often and more gently, with more warning, her dinner stays under the seat longer, the F-150 takes it easier, and however bumpy it gets Charlie always makes it there, so the bumps only cost stars.
Where: Mission Mode, Missions 9 and 10
-
Free Roam Mode: go anywhere
In Free Roam Mode the Go to button takes Charlie to any place in the game at any hour, from Paola’s and the ER to Southampton, Federico’s estate in East Hampton, Michael’s garage in Miami, Nichole in Chicago, Annie’s dorm and Dad’s house on the lake, with everyone there doing their thing.
Where: Free Roam Mode: the Go to button by the pause button (T on a keyboard, LT or L2 on a controller, Play/Pause on the Apple TV remote)
-
Victor, in person
Victor is finally off the video call: his camper trailer and its big renovations (one step, one tile, a mailbox) are down the road from Dad’s in Ohio, next to Pallet Palace Logistics, where he supervises Ruth cleaning the restrooms and his parents still don’t trust him with a mop.
Where: Auto Play Mode, Wednesday morning on the way home from Dad’s; Free Roam Mode, Go to → Ohio
-
Only what Charlie notices
Free Roam Mode has calmed down: only what touches Charlie or is right in front of his nose lights up, talks or makes a noise, two things at a time, while everyone else carries on quietly behind him.
Where: Free Roam Mode (and for the old busy view, Game Settings, Show everything in Free Roam Mode)
-
Nichole’s lipo hunt in Chicago
In Chicago, Fluffy and Charlie go with Nichole to her appointments: she’s shopping for the cheapest liposuction in town, and three cosmetic surgeons kindly tell her there’s nothing to remove, so she ends up at a nail salon with a sign in the window (a toenail clip and lipo, same day, half off), where Kevin, who calls himself a doctor, removes… the toenails.
Where: Auto Play Mode, Thursday, on the trip to Chicago
Version 2.9
-
Federico, and the prenup
Fluffy’s friend goes by his full name now, Federico, said the Italian way, and he keeps trying to have his husband Michael served with divorce papers, but Michael won’t be divorced until Federico meets their prenup: the settlement in full, the guest cottage, the dogs every other weekend and a farewell toast without NATO.
Where: Mission Mode, Missions 37 and 38; Auto Play Mode, Tuesday in Miami and Thursday night in East Hampton
-
Mission 39: Dad and Lubna in Ohio
Fluffy flies to Ohio to see his father, Dad, in his grand house on the lake (twelve bedrooms, twelve bathrooms, the pride of Ohio), where his stepmom Lubna, who promised to pick them up at the airport and didn’t, tells Dad that Fluffy doesn’t care and shows everyone the plans for her gold-plated house back home: a mission, and a red-eye every week in Auto Play Mode.
Where: Mission Mode, Mission 39; Auto Play Mode, Tuesday night into Wednesday morning

-
CJ and the bar on Third

Where: Auto Play Mode, happy hour at the bar on Tuesday and Monday morning at 13A; Free Roam Mode, the bar’s door on Park Avenue (noon to 11 PM)
-
Victor, in a cloud
Victor now calls through a haze, one joint lit off the last, pitching synergy and his “empire” (his parents’ toilets), getting every word confidently wrong and sure all of Ohio envies him, from a trailer full of pizza boxes.
Where: Auto Play Mode and Free Roam Mode: Fluffy’s phone, and the main menu’s cast
-
Marlene is Grandpa’s cousin
Marlene, on the phone from Miami, is Grandpa’s cousin (not his sister), and she says Grandpa by name now, so you always know who she means.
Where: Auto Play Mode and Free Roam Mode: Fluffy’s phone
Version 2.8
-
Victor video-calls from Ohio
Fluffy’s friend Victor, Senior Executive Vice President of Global Hygiene Operations (the toilets, at his parents’ warehouse in Ohio), video-calls through a haze to say Fluffy ruined his life and to show off his big renovations, which are all on his camper trailer.
Where: Auto Play Mode and Free Roam Mode: Fluffy’s phone
-
Fluffy’s wild boar
Fluffy has a secret weapon, a wild boar that’s loyal only to him: when he’s mad he threatens to call it and everyone backs right down, and in Devil Mode, with someone he really hates nearby, he whistles (what boar?).

-
Missions 37–38: Federico, Michael
Fluffy’s friend Federico, who works at NATO (he’ll tell you), gives a reception at his East Hampton mansion where his four dogs run off with Fluffy’s gloves and loafers, and in Miami Federico’s husband Michael hides in his parents’ garage from the process server Federico keeps sending with divorce papers: two missions, and two visits a week in Auto Play Mode.

Where: Auto Play Mode and Free Roam Mode: Fluffy’s phone
-
Missions 34–36: Annie comes home
